Our paediatric first aid training enhances participants' knowledge and practical skills in providing vital treatment to infants and children. The course emphasizes assessing and managing critical situations, fostering confidence and competence in real-life emergencies. Aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, this popular course is ideal for early years workers, registered childminders, parents, and grandparents seeking valuable skills in paediatric first aid.
The level 3 course includes two essential units that learners must complete. The first unit, emergency paediatric first aid, focuses on the responsibilities of an aider and provides training on administering first aid to unresponsive, choking, or bleeding infants and children. The second unit, managing paediatric illnesses, injuries, and emergencies, covers both theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively treat various medical conditions.
The duration of the courses varies depending on the level. The course spans 12 hours and is typically conducted over two full classroom-based days.
This course is recognized by the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, making it particularly suitable for professionals working with children and infants, including registered childminders, creche staff, and preschool workers. However, individuals without professional involvement can also benefit from undertaking the course and acquiring essential life-saving skills to handle paediatric emergencies they may encounter in personal situations.
The Paediatric First Aid training course can be conducted either at your own site, our training center in Derry, or alternatively, we can arrange a local venue for you anywhere in Northern Ireland.
Trained paediatric first aiders are legally required in all regulated childcare settings. The owners and occupants of such establishments have a legislative responsibility to maintain adequate first-aid resources and ensure the availability of trained personnel at all times.
